 Amazing! What really scares me is that this guy belongs to an organization with millions of followers who are to scared to speak up.

Just one of the Washouts on Route 408,Cape Ray. It'll probably be repaired after a School Bus or some poor unsuspecting Motorist tumbles in it.

Come on,this is ridiculous! He shouldn't of been pulled over, he should of been arrested by the Police going to his home long ago and getting him. Few weeks back my wife & I had to get Police checks for our line of work. One thing I noticed on it was that if we had any outstanding Fines we would of been turned down. So even if we owed a $15 Parking Meter Ticket we might of been turned down. Yet every week on the News we see this type of Story. Time for someone to speak up in Government and order all those with outstanding Fines to appear and see if they're willing to pay up or walk for the rest of their lives. (* on another Note,I wonder how much in Interest was tallied on that Fine? Said it was $2,641.46 over the $160,000. Are the Interest Rates part of the factor why some are not paying?)

Wreckhouse Wind Warning

Another Wreckhouse Wind Warning issued for our area. No matter how far in advance it's issued,some will still ignore it. Here's the results from earlier in the week when a few ignored one.

The snow seems to continue this winter in Cape Ray. I cleared my Driveway just 12 hours prior to this and by midnight I suspect it'll will have to be done again. A Video from this afternoon (Brother Inlaw in the pic and video clearing the snow) ,,,,, Click on Photo to open.

Update on the injured Snowy Owl. It has arrived in St. Johns on an EPA Flight and probably now at Salmonier Nature Park. (Photoshopped Owls in a photo of the Cape Ray Lighthouse area.)

With all the Snowy Owl sightings in Cape Ray this year it was not unreasonable to think they all would survive. At least this one might get a second chance at Salmonier Nature Park.

Sightings of snowy owls have become common in Cape Ray, but stumbling upon and capturing an injured one is really rare.

Charlie Osmond holds this Snowy Owl that he and his wife found on Norwest Cove Beach on Jan. 17. The couple could tell it was injured, and so brought it to safety. The conservation office was called and the owl was transported to the Salmonier Nature Park in St. John’s for rehabilitation.

Great move MHA Parsons! Today I see Finance Minister Tom Marshall crowing about how 63 Million was shaved from our Provincial Deficit. Maybe if they recuperate a lot of those unpaid Fines Tom can crow a bit more next year.

Cape Ray Lighthouse,Nov. 30 - 2013.

We have been seeing quite a few Snowy Owls in our area lately. Today I spotted four and captured a few photos. Some of my friends have saw up to a dozen at times near the Lighthouse at Cape Ray. Apparently this is common every decade or two according to this interesting Article by Bruce Mactavish in the Telegram.

It started without warning when Gerard Hickey reported three snowy owls on the Cape Race road on Nov. 15.

Cape Race road is traditionally one of the best places to see snowy owls on the Avalon Peninsula. The sudden appearance of three was just an indication of what was about to unfold.

Wasted hours and wasted days Article by Russell Wangersky

"Other than wasting the House’s time and hearing your own voice droning on and on, what’s the point?" -Russell Wangersky.

Mr. Wangersky, come spend a night driving with me to and from my workplace here in the Shadow of the Wreckhouse. Others from my community also do shift work and all of us at some point or another have been stranded out there in the snow. Our MHA has heard our pleas and will not give up until we receive the same treatment as other Districts in the Province.

Erosion a growing concern at Cheeseman beach

 

The beach at J.T. Cheeseman Provincial Park isn’t what it used to be.

Wayne Osmond stands by an old railway retaining wall recently exposed in an eroding bank. Osmond is alarmed at how quickly sand dunes have been washing away at Cheeseman Beach.

Just ask Wayne Osmond. The resident of nearby Cape Ray has lived in the area his whole life and he walks the beach at least three times a week.

Looks like Climate change has taken its toll on Cape Ray Beach. With the increase in Atlantic Storms and maybe the lack of ice in the Gulf the past several years,our Beach is loosing sand.A Retaining Wall built sometime in the past by the Railroad is now exposed to the elements. No one seems to know what year it was put in place but it was placed there to protect the Rails that ran just yards from it. After the demise of the Railway it was converted into a T'Railway and maybe the next major storm when it comes (and it will) we'll see the collapse of the T'Railway and maybe the Ocean carve deep into the Lagoon behind it.

Bedrock is now showing on the Beach. This was never seen before.

The Beach once covered the entire wall and the sand went quite a distance out to the Ocean.

No one seems to know when the Retaining Wall was built.

The Beach,known as Cape Ray Beach has lost much of its sand.

Once Tourists and Locals sunbathed on sand here much higher then the height of the wall.

An Aerial View from above shows that the Section affected is also the narrow part. The next Storm may cause a break into this section and the ocean may spill into the area known as the Parking lot.
