Wiseman Out as Health Minister
vocm news:

The province turns over a new leaf in health care today as Premier Danny Williams switches a pair of cabinet postings. The cabinet shuffle comes as Eastern Health prepares to release final numbers on ER/PR testing....

The embattled Ross Wiseman goes from health to business while Paul Oram goes from business to health. Wiseman faced controversy during his time as health minister, particularly over the handling of the ER/PR testing problems at Eastern Health. Many critics called for his removal much sooner. Premier Danny Williams maintains that he would have wanted nobody else in the health portofolio during the difficult period.

ABOUT FRIGGIN TIME!

What is your read on the new man in health Wayne? He seems to be in funeral homes and personal care homes.
Personally I am always wary of men with lots of gold jewelry hanging off them, but that is just me.

i know little about him. owning a few personal care homes should make him more aware of the home care system and that might be beneficial to that sector. it's no easy task running the health system but to play down the crisis like wiseman did was totally wrong.

i doubt if anything will change in homecare this year.

I hope this guy can do some good in the health portfolio, alas I think the problems are beyond his ilk. He may be a nice guy and a good family man, but he is in politics, he has been Danny’s defender on all things, and he seems to know nothing about the provinces recent history.
Not good signs at all at all.

if beth marshall sucked up to danny in the ABC campaign instead of remaining neutral she might of had her hands on the new job again.

Isn't it a blatant conflict of interest for an owner and operator of personal care homes to be in charge of regulating personal care homes?

i would say yes. i expect to hear the opposition to be bringing this up more in the coming week.
